“ Great authentic Mexican tacos, would definitely recommend. We had the carnitas and the red and green salsa. ”
“ This place is a treasure. Best Carnitas, salsas and tortillas in Charlotte. Pick-up to take home ”
“ Lupitas is my favorite quick&meal night option! The first time I went I spent $30 on 3lbs of fresh cut cooked chicken, 1lb of freshly made, warm tortillas and an array of fresh salsas for 3 people. Chicken is $5/lb, tortillas are $2.50/lb, You can't beat that!!! But it ended up being waaayyyy too much lol. I could have easily fed a family of 5 with that amount. I have learned since to go smaller when ordering. I've been back a couple times since when I'm having a lazy night. I sometimes buy the chicken to make my own nachos at home. The inside is setup like a meat counter market and they also sell other Hispanic grocery items. Some of the staff don't speak English but I usually don't have problems communicating what I want. Sometimes the line gets long but they are super fast and the wait usually isn't that long! ”
“ My first time here and the staff was super helpful helping me decide what meat I wanted to buy and how much it would all be. The food is delicious and FRESH! Tortillas and salsa are a must. Definitely will be back. I received everything in the picture (2lbs of chopped chicken, 13 tortillas, and 3 salsas) for $25. ”
“ At last, I finally had the chance to visit Lupitas Carniceria & Tortilleria, and I was not let down! The location is a butler-style Mexican market where you can purchase various meats, cheeses, etc. and other authentic food prepared on site. I adore that the tortillas are freshly prepared, and you can see them being prepared. In addition to grabbing a few glass bottles of Coke, we ordered one pound of carnitas, half a pound of barbacoa, one pound of tortillas, chipotle salsa, and orange salsa. Everything tasted amazing! The service was excellent! Lupitas Carniceria & Tortilleria is absolutely fave and I will be returning. ”
“ This place is a favorite. My best friend from Mexico introduced me to it years ago and it is one of our favorite places to get food. Even when family from out of town visits, they always ask if we can get Lupitas while they're here. This place is like a deli style establishment where you buy your ingredients and assemble at home. It's nothing fancy and doesn't need to be. Sometimes when they're busy parking can be a challenge. There are no tables so don't come thinking it's a restaurant. You would be hard-pressed to find more authentic tacos as long as you're capable of a little assembly at home. Fresh, authentic corn tortillas made all day long for about $1.50 a pound. Their carnitas and barbacoa are both delicious. ¡Que rico! We also always get extra to have for leftovers and the last time I made Brunswick stew out of the leftover carnitas. Trust me you don't want to waste any! Most everyone is friendly, sometimes the woman at the cash register isn't the most warm personality but I let it slide as that's literally the only thing I could remotely say that's negative. The men doing the meats though are always smiley, helpful, and pleasant. I speak Spanish and use it as it the dominant language but I have sent my husband who speaks NO Spanish and he successfully makes it home with food. He jokingly said one time waiting in line there are 50 people in here ordering and I think I'm the only white guy who doesn't speak Spanish. So don't let the language barrier scare you away. They give you sliced limes and you can get your cilantro and onions, salsas, guac, and toppings at the checkout. If you want a Mexican Coke (way better than American coke,) squirt, or Jarritos you can get those from the cooler yourself. Go enjoy! ”
“ This is one of my favorite carnicerías in South Charlotte. They have incredible meat options for cooked carne and the fresh tortillas were delicious. The workers are very friendly and helpful while I tried to understand how to order. The market has many options and the butcher has so interesting cuts of meat that look delicious. ”
“ I slept on this spot for way too long. You order your meat and tortillas by the pound. The tortillas are homemade and you can really tell the difference. Take your food to go and assemble your own tacos at home. We got Barbacoa and Carnitas. I loved both. Their salsas are also very good. These are definitely my favorite tacos in Charlotte now. ”
“ My wife and I ordered one pound of carnitas, one pound barbacoa, one pound of tortillas, chipotle salsa, and orange salsa for ~$35. We got two full meals out of it. And considering we only eat one meal a day, that's a lot of food! Plus it was so good. The service is good and fast. Communication is a little difficult because of the language barrier but no big deal. And the ambiance is... Well it's basically a deli counter. I can't imagine a more casual place. ”
“ I don't fancy myself a creature of habit and especially when it comes to food, but this place draws me back again and again. That says something. Mostly Latinos shop here for their excellent meats, cheeses, and in-house made corn tortillas. The aromas of corn roasting and pork simmering into carnitas are intoxicating. So good. Let me encourage the timid to shop here. While Spanish is the dominant language, English is widely understood and spoken. The food is fresh and trustworthy. Credit cards accepted, too. Did I mention the carnitas are delicious? Mmmmm. Looking to experience another culture without the challenges of language and currency? It's right here! Got their hot sauce dripping all over my "Give 'em a whirl" meter. Go here. PS: carnitas are sold ala carte as are the tortillas. Not made to order. ”
